"Reproduce a dramatic low-pitched sound by simply placing it on the drum, without changing the tuning." — This genuine leather snare drum mute was born from the ideal of such drummers, and is an original product of BREAKBEAT LAB.
It instantly reproduces the "fat sound with overtones cut" heard in genres such as Techno, House, Dance, and Lo-Fi. Simply place it on your snare drum to achieve a uniform, solid tone, just like a sampled sound source or programmed beat.
A carabiner magnet is standard equipment to prevent slippage during play.
It can be attached and detached with a single touch between the drum tuning key and the tension rod, allowing for smooth sound changes between songs.
[Regarding use in live performances/stages]
This product (2.0mm cowhide) has the highest sound-dampening and overtone-cutting effect compared to other models from our brand (1.5mm cowhide, 1.0mm synthetic leather), which significantly changes the volume and tone of the snare drum's raw sound. When used in a loud band formation or live house, we recommend consulting with a PA engineer (sound engineer) in advance for volume balance adjustments.

Individuality of natural materials: As this product uses natural cowhide, there will be individual differences in surface texture, wrinkles, and color.
Variations in thickness: Although we perform precise tailoring by hand, due to the nature of natural materials, there may be a tolerance of ±0.1-0.15mm in thickness.
Aging: Depending on the usage environment and age, the texture of the leather may change, and the logo sticker may peel or become dirty.

Changing the world with a single strike: The necessity of 2.0mm cowhide leather
Tuning a snare drum to a clean low pitch is a highly challenging skill.
"I want a mute that can produce a dramatic low-pitched sound just by placing it on the drum"—this was the beginning of it all.
I purchased and experimented with various products from other companies, made of plastic, fabric, and other materials, but I couldn't find a sound I was satisfied with. Especially when trying to recreate "human techno beats" or "human machine beats" within a band sound, traditional gel mutes and ring mutes were overwhelmingly insufficient.
Even if I could eliminate overtones, I couldn't achieve both the "thick, heavy bass" and "attack" that I heard in audio sources. The origin of this product was when I started making my own, thinking, "If there's no ideal product, I'll just have to make it myself."
By carefully exploring and adjusting the "sweet spot" where the rich mid-low range resonance of 2.0mm extra-thick cowhide beautifully blends with the snare wire vibrations, the true qualities of this mute are dramatically brought out.
Although some adjustment is necessary to achieve the best settings beforehand, once the sweet spot is found, you can freely create sounds ranging from dry and hard tones to loose and extremely thick textures.
